Solid Hardwood Planks

Solid pieces of wood from the finest domestic & exotic hardwoods, stained & finished with a protective coating for a gorgeous, natural surface. Because solid planks consist of the same material throughout, scratches and wear can be sanded out. These planks can be refinished multiple times throughout their lifecycle to restore their original beauty. Solid hardwood is susceptible to water damage, however, so it’s not a good fit for kitchens, bathrooms, basements or mudrooms, and it cannot be wet mopped.

Engineered Hardwood Planks

Though constructed using several layers of wood adhered together, on the surface these floors are indistinguishable from solid hardwood once installed. The layered construction offers greater dimensional stability, minimizing buckling from expansion & contraction caused by changes in humidity. Install engineered wood over concrete, in basements & other areas where solid hardwood cannot go. You should still consider that engineered wood is not waterproof, and refinishing may not be an option due to the thinner wood layers involved.
