Tile INSTALLATION

Before your new tile installation

Prior to your new tile installation, there are plenty of helpful steps you can take to ensure a smooth process. Start by removing all furniture from the rooms and closets that are getting new tile flooring, as well as any electronics or hanging wall items. Since tile floors cannot be installed over an existing flooring type, the current floors will need to be removed entirely and disposed of properly. Make sure to complete any new painting or touch-ups in the room beforehand. Once your subfloor has been professionally assessed, and any needed repairs have been made, you are ready for new tile flooring!

During tile installation

On the day of your tile installation, make sure an adult is home and on-hand to answer any questions that may arise for your installers. Designate an area in the home for the installation crew to keep tile installation tools, keep tiles before they are installed, mix grout, and to cut tile as needed. Keep all children and pets away from the rooms receiving new tile, as well as the worker’s area.

After tile installation

Once your new tile floors are installed, now is the time to walk through with your installers and ask any questions you may have. It’s important to wait for the specified time period before walking on your new tile flooring or returning furnishings to the room. The adhesives and grout need time to set and cure or else you may create a permanently uneven surface. When returning furniture, always lift pieces or use proper moving equipment with wheels to avoid damaging the floors. Also, we recommend using felt protectors under the legs of heavier pieces to reduce impact.
